Tom Bergendahl is offering to let divers try out Kayak diving. It will be in Marblehead on October 15th. More details on the Shore Diving Calendar If anyone else wants to lead a shore dive, let me know and I'll post it up on the calendar. It's some of the best diving of the year - the beaches aren't crowded, the water's clearer, and there's plenty of close parking! The Aquarium regained it's accreditation by the American Zoo and Aquarium Association, which was lost in 2003 because of financial and maintenance problems. "Basically, we are on a path now to make the New England Aquarium a world-class institution again," said Bud Ris, the aquarium's president and CEO, who has been at the helm for about a year. "The Big Dig is almost finished, and, with the Greenway coming, you can find the aquarium again. Financially we are much stronger. We will be running on a $1 million to $2 million surplus. That will allow us to put money back into the maintenance of the building. We still have a lot more work to do there." Alan Budreau, is again leading the Assabet River clean up dive this year. It is a very pleasant, very shallow, freshwater dive in Stow, MA. In previous years, there has been a free light breakfast, water bottle, T-shirt, and pizza lunch. Organization of the Assabet River (OAR) (www.assabetriver.org) sponsors this as a shore and wading cleanup, but the members who went and dove last year had a great time. Directions and final meeting place are now posted, see the shore diving calendar for more info and how to sign up! Link to this article posted at 10:58 PM 0 comments |
