Important Safety Notice to divers and dive industry regarding Apeks Regulators

To all Apeks Customers:

There may be a potential problem with the yoke clamp screw on any yoke clamp type regulator with the serial number starting from 7010001 – 7053528. All Apeks dealers have been made aware of this issue.

Please return your Apeks regulator or just the yoke clamp screw to your nearest Apeks dealer for inspection. If you need assistance finding your nearest Apeks authorized dealer, please use the dealer locator found at www.aqualung.com. Do not dive with the regulator until it has been inspected.

Apeks apologizes for any inconvenience this recall might cause. We are dedicated to making the world's best diving products and to ensuring diver safety at all costs. This solution is the only reasonable course of action.

     White Water Rafting
There are two dates available for the club's white water rafting trip: June 23 and July 7th.

The trip will take place in Western Massachusetts at Crabpple. There are two types of trips being run:
  • An easy one that is an afternoon trip from 1PM-5PM and is $56 per adult and $41 per child. This trip is design for folks who want a gentler ride and who have small children.

  • The other trip is on class 3 and 4 rapids, is an all day trip, and costs $104 per person. Minimum age for this trip is 15 years old.



To sign up for the club trip, contact Al (programs@neadc.org) as soon as possible.

Also we are in the planning process of next year's Manatee / fossil diving trip to Florida in February 2008. If you are interested in going on the trip, please contact Al (programs@neadc.org) and let him know.

     Old Garden Beach Cleanup
Barbara Goll, the ROWC Chair has asked that I post news about their cleanup:

The Old Garden Beach Association will hold their annual clean-up on Saturday June 2 starting at 9 AM. The Rights of Way Committee and the Friends of the Rights of Way Committee and all others are invited to join in. Please bring clippers, protective gloves, rakes, etc., and a willing spirit. We meet in the Old Garden Beach parking lot. Cold drinks will be served. Please email if you need directions or have any questions bgoll2@gmail.com. Hope to see you there!

     Cleanups!

There are two shore/underwater cleanups coming up that are looking for divers to help:

Coast Guard Station — Beach Cleanup/Earth Day Celebration
Saturday, June 9, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.,
SWIM, the Nahant Woman's Club, and the Town of Nahant are joining forces to clean up the beaches and celebrate Earth Day. Volunteers needed to work on cleaning up ALL the Town beaches and to help with Earth Day activities. Fun for kids and adults, music, food and merriment. Rain date: June 10.      Bay State Council of Divers Treasure Hunt

22nd Annual Treasure Hunt - Sunday May 20, 2007 (Rain or Shine)
Time: 9:00am to 4:00pm
Place: Stage Fort Park Gloucester, MA

*Free Parking
*Take out food available or bring your own
Cooking is okay bring own grill

*Schedule of Events
9:00-9:30am Registration
10:00-11:00am SCUBA Event
11:00-12:00pm Snorkel Event
2:00-3:00pm Trophies and Prizes

Treasure Hunt
$10 Entrance fee, addition $1 per person for Snorkel Event
6 person max teams, club or shop

Required Equipment for Scuba Event:
Wet or Dry suit with BC, tank, regulator with pressure gauge, weight belt, mask, fins, snorkel, knife and catch bag.

NEADC is organizing team for the event - so please come join us.
